Cyber Builders Updates
New publication agenda, more deep-dives and stronger community... plus some vacations ahead!
Hello Cyber Builders 🖖
I’m excited to announce the new CyberBuilder's schedule, which will start in September. Can you believe it's been almost 18 months since I started this newsletter? During that time, I ran 72 newsletters, grew the readership, and launched a cybersecurity venture studio, CyGO Entrepreneurs, with my cofounder Aurelie. We are proud to be the first European venture studio to build security companies. If you're interested, feel free to apply!
We've maintained a weekly schedule for our publication, covering various series. Over the past 18 months, I've written extensively about AI and security, a topic that continues to evolve. We've explored product software security and security for SMBs, delved into detection engineering, and examined Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC). On top of that, I've provided quarterly reviews of the VC market and offered in-depth advice for cyber-builders working on new companies or products in the cybersecurity space.
So, what's next?
Introducing the New Cyber Builders' Schedule
I'm excited to share some updates to the Cyber Builders’ schedule that will help deliver even better content. We're continuing with a monthly focus but with some fundamental changes to enhance the quality and depth of our posts.
Monthly Focus with Flexibility
While we'll focus monthly on specific topics, I'm switching gears. Instead of dedicating an entire month to one topic, I'll introduce more flexibility. This might mean weeks without a newsletter (what? 😱), allowing me more time to create in-depth, high-quality content (ah, okay! 😃).
Deep Dives on Advanced Topics
I'm still super committed to teasing out deep dives on advanced topics like AI and security, product development, software security, and more. However, the format will shift slightly. Instead of a lengthy series of 4 or 5 posts, I’ll focus on a shorter series, perhaps just two posts each. These deep dives will be longer and more structured, allowing you to:
Skim through for quick insights
Read the sections you’re most interested in
Use them as comprehensive reference documents
Share with your colleagues and networks
Off-Series Posts for Trends and News
In addition to these deep dives, I’ll continue to post off-series, shorter blog entries to cover current trends and news. This includes timely reactions to events like the CrowdStrike outage or quarterly VC stats.
Moreover, I'll share insights on cybersecurity practices, perspectives on building within the industry, and best practices from our venture studio.
Building in Public and Sharing Practices
At CyGO Entrepreneurs, we believe in building in public and openly sharing our best practices. We consider our Cyber Builders community an extended part of our venture studio. Your feedback is invaluable, and together, we can foster a collaborative environment where everyone benefits.
Building stronger security companies is a community effort, and we are committed to sharing what we learn.
So, What to Expect Next?
In the coming months, you can look forward to:
High-Quality Content: More time to build better, more in-depth posts.
Structured Deep Dives: Longer, well-organized articles on key topics.
Timely Updates: Shorter posts on trends and news to keep you informed.
Practical Insights: Sharing best practices, personal views, and actionable advice from our venture studio.
I'll be taking two weeks off, but I've scheduled some great content to be posted automatically during my vacation.
One is a fantastic talk on AI and security by Elie Bursztein from Google DeepMind. You don’t want to miss it.
The other is a best-of post featuring my top Substack publications, serving as an index for anyone who might have missed something.
Great summer watches and reads. Enjoy
Laurent 💚
